First Relief Society party–DONE.
He’s so cute on his little airplane, zipping up and down the hallway – until….wait….mom is that your camera? HERE let me help!! I can push ALL the buttons and take a picture of YOU! (you can tell I haven’t used my camera all that much lately, its still the biggest novelty for him)
Just Locke, being his usual cute self….
So as “Chairman of the Enrichment Board” or as I prefer, chief party planner, we pulled off our first party tonight!!!! it has been SO fun to get ready for, and has made bed rest bearable. Locke of course joined me with Nicole’s kids – they had a blast playing in the gym – and we got down to decorating!
oh, the dreaded half – smile.
I was sentenced to the ward wheel chair for the night – ugh. bed rest. yucky.
This was what we managed to pull off! It was kind of a pastel, vintage theme. The tie backs on the chairs were made with vintage sheets, as were the squares the centerpieces were on.
Pretty much I spent the last 2 weeks sewing napkins from old sheets ( I taped paper with the RS logo on it to keep them rolled up ), yarn wrapping bottles, hot gluing braided yarn onto the sheet squares on the table, and a hundred other things!!
I got some cupcake liners at Joann's that were the Martha Stewart collection (so pretty much that always means they’re super cute) and put them on straws,
made some origami flowers, wrapped dollar store plastic easter eggs in old sheets, painted the inside of a vase for each table, and hot glued strips of fabric to bamboo skewers for “flowers”
This the food table minus food! we had the sisters sign up to bring soup, salad, bread rolls, and cupcakes. By the way they did an AMAZING job, the dinner was SO GOOD. The garland is just more old sheets, cut into strips and tied onto string
We put a simple garland (just like the garland above but much smaller stripes) and all the extra vases and knick knacks on the stage to jazz it up a bit.
I also had each of the sisters put their thumb print on our Relief Society family tree and write their name small beside it – Its just going to be a fun thing we can display in the ward on sundays from now on. ( I just printed off a free tree template!) the jar to the left? one of my favorite pinterest finds of late – link here
Kathy Hardinger, Sherry Stone, and Donna Crapo – Best sisters! I love our little committee – they go along with all my crazy ideas, they are awesome!
And here is the party in action! it was so fun!
and our program was pretty simple, the RS presidency acted out the first RS meeting, and then our RS president Becky Rasmussen (speaking) gave a short talk. She is leaving in a month so it was nice to hear from her about how amazing she thinks Relief Society is. And there you have it! our fun little party that I was so glad a ton of people showed up and had a good time at. Our next party is in May and Donna came up with the BEST idea ever – how to be a ten cow wife!! I’m already thinking of décor and food – I can’t wait to see what we all come up with!

Starting project 365
So I’ve decided today since I’ve posted for the past 4 days straight that I want to try and complete project 365 – which for me means a picture of me, Lane, and Locke either taken together or separately everyday for the next 365 days. and I’m going to post them all here and journal them so I can print off a digital 365 book! I’ve always like the 365 idea, but I didn’t ever like the scrapbooking part of it. I knew I would try to do too much and make every page really cute, which would take way too long and I wouldn’t do it. too much effort. But I’m LOVING the new program windows live writer to upload everything – its so fast and lets me put up posts in record time. So here goes day five! :
Locke desperately trying to get Lane to hold him so they can go outside and feed. Note: yes he is wearing his footed pjs. Its also 7 in the morning and I didn’t feel like getting him dressed yet.
These two? just buddies for life. nbd.
Locke woke up from his nap today and ate some peaches with his hands (they were just too darn slippery for his spoon and fork) and then proceeded to rub the juice all over in his hair. nice. Then Lane came in for some lunch and Locke demanded a piece of ham. He ate three pieces! plain! the funniest part? this is the third time this week he’s done this….really.
I can’t ever get enough of his smile, I think he is the cutest little chipmonk around!!
Ugh. that’s all I can say. 34 weeks today and feeling ready to pop. This baby sure does know how to make himself known – I feel ginormous! I gotta say it will be nice to have a break from pregnancy again! I just want to hold the little guy – I got all Lockes newborn clothes out and added in all my new additions and I can’t wait! the outfits are so small it seems unreal that a baby will really fit into them. Because Locke sure doesn’t anymore, and yes, that means he tried. I had to put them away in a box up high in his shelves because I was scared he would stretch them out….

Struggling to grow up…
Locke has had the biggest independent streak lately – as you can see he refuses to let me help him put his pants on. ever. All of a sudden he figured out if he fiddles with them enough, eventually he’ll get each leg in its own separate pant leg. This happens every morning, night, and diaper change. Its so cute!! but at the same time….challenging when we need to go somewhere, etc. Oh locke, stop growing up! its happening way to fast!
And I have to say I never thought I’d be “that mom” who let her kids have binkys as toddlers….but I guess that’s one of the million things I’m doing that I swore I never would. As you can see he’s grinding his teeth with it so I’m thinking its time to get rid of it. or I’ll just let him bite all the ends off and not buy new ones. yeah, that sounds easy enough. Really though he usually doesn’t get them during the day, recently hes found them everywhere. probly cuz I’m couch-bound and not as tidy as usual….
I’m so close to 34 weeks!! I’m trying to be really good about not lifting things and taking my contraction-reducing pills so I can make it to 37 weeks. If its in my power I REALLY want to have a full term, healthy baby. I learned with Locke that preemie babies are SOO cute and tiny, but challenging to care for – I could tell with Locke he just wasn’t quite ready for life yet. I’d feel really spoiled to have a baby without jaundice that ate really well. So that’s my goal! 37 weeks! and so far its going awesome!!

Getting ready for baby no. 2!
So things are going really well!! I’m 34 weeks now, and no longer in a really scary place if I went into preterm labour. WHEW. I’m only a week away from where I was when I had Locke – is it possible I’m only a week away from having another baby? it still doesn’t seem real. It just feels like pregnancy is a part of life now. It will be SO NICE to be preggers free for the summer – getting up to go to the bathroom 3+ times a night is only fun for so long….
Lane has already been doing some spring cleaning even though I can’t help yet, he sold a TON of scrap metal from old farm equipment and 4 old cars out of the backyard. Then got out his huge loader and scraped away all of the weeds and random old farm stuff that gets stuck in the dirt. Looks really nice now, we might even put in a backyard this spring! which would be amazing! but I’m seriously just happy with level, clean dirt. at least I can let locke run around back there, whereas before I was always a bit scared I’d be running locke to the hospital for a tetanus shot every day.
PLUS we got carpet downstairs which is also amazing! all the really big renovations are done and after I have the baby I’m going to get serious about decorating our house – its got amazing bones now, I just need to start doing all my pinterest projects and it will be my dream house!
so these were a couple of shots I got right before putting little Locke to bed yesterday. and yes, I still give him a bottle. But look how cute he is! I seriously can’t say no when he starts pointing at the cabinet saying “ba ba”. and neither can Lane, which makes me feel like less of a pushover!
This is his favorite toy ever – he scoots around on it all day it is the cutest thing.
He looks so tired! so ready for a nap!
He got sick of his airplane and thought my camera would make a better toy – He didn’t like me saying no.
and back to happy and playing after mini breakdown – are all toddlers this bi-polar?
he watches cartoons in this thing every morning on netflix – I got it at a thrift store in town. When he found it he sat and rocked in it for over half an hour while I shopped around! so funny and he still loves it!
and heres the crazy little guy after his nap. with some rockin hair.
So I thought I’d do something fun and have him paint/draw a picture for the nursery…
at first things were going well…..
and then all he would do is put the pencils in the paint. and then on his clothes. ….
so after an HOUR of encouraging him to draw… this is all we got. after this I showed him how to trace his hand. And we did that about 50 times. So some blue paint and fifty handprints?? I’ll take it. thanks Locke, I think your little brother will love it! (how do people get perfect little drawings out of their kids? I seriously think some of them must do it themselves…)
