7 months!

p.s. yesterday was our 7 month anniversary! yeah! love love love marriage!! here we were celebrating with our favorite thing...food!

not the best day ever...

Who wants to hear something that will just make you feel so sorry for me? Well two weeks ago we killed a cow for meat and put half in Lane's parents freezer, and half in ours. Get where i'm goin with this? This weekend no one was at the farm house because of moving cows and planting corn, so when vicki grabbed a roast out of the freezer yesterday....she found that it had been unplugged. For two days. Everything was COMPLETELY unthawed. and nasty and smelly. ugh, ew, gross. Somehow it had gotten unplugged, and the weird part was lane had to seriously push hard to get it back in the outlet. So someone would've had to reef hard!! and i don't think queen could've done it! but what other explanation was there?

The next big issue was, when did it happen, right? so me and lane sacrificed one of our own hamberger packages to do a small experiment in a cooler to find how long it would take to completely unthaw. It only took a day and a half. and when we opened it it was brown and gross, just like the others. Moral of the story? maybe defrosting your freezer isn't a good idea. Because if we hadn't done it the week before, everything would've probably been fine. ugh. yup, not the best day ever...

The start of madness!

Here's our new dog! Well, its Nolan's. lane's dad. Who walked in from driving semi all night to announce the name he thought up for her - Queen. And now she truely is treated that way, we even bought dog food for her. Tuff never had that. ever.
Here is Lane's first meal on the tractor for this year! Obviously we couldn't find anything else to put his root beer in...or could we....
This tractor is HUGE!!! and so wicked long with all those attachements. We rented it all from a friend to work over our new ground really well. It worked good! So first you disk...
Then you plant! and this year it is a whole heck of a lot of corn! (thats what the purple seed is). I actually cant wait to take pictures of gigantic fields of swaying corn! and maybe when the sun isn't going down like it is in all of these pictures. So please Skye don't look at them, i know they are horrible resolution!
Stockin up the "things".
And this is what it looks like after! see all the ground...that means a LOT of hauling in september. but i try not to think too much about that!

For now, i'll just enjoy the sunset.
